BoardMaster - life, learning, courage and ambition
Professional board work creates value when it's structured, courageous, and human. But in reality, it often becomes a formality – without direction, without progress. BoardMaster came to life because through years of experience and consulting, we have witnessed and helped many boards struggling to translate responsibility into real impact. Where the work either becomes too loose, too operational, or needs an edge. That's why we developed a method that meets the board exactly where it is – and helps it move forward, without wasting time on unnecessary theory or model thinking.
BoardMaster stands out
The market is full of broad board education programs. They are often professionally solid – but few companies have the time or need for the entire curriculum.
BoardMaster is different. We start with a simple compliance and impact measurement and build from there. This way, the board gets:
- A concrete starting point that reflects reality
- A method that strengthens collaboration and responsibility
- A structure that saves time and creates progress
We cut out noise and generalizations – and focus on what makes sense for your ownership group, your ambition, and your board.
Morten Boysen – experience became method
"I became self-employed at age 20. Four years later, the company went bankrupt. It was tough – but also the beginning of an important realization: You don't have to know everything yourself. You need to dare to listen, ask, and share responsibility."
Since then, I've built a career as a top executive, investor, and active board member across the Nordics. It has confirmed one thing: Boards make the biggest difference when they work in a structured, courageous, and trusting way – with people at the center.
That's why we developed BoardMaster
In 2010, we began the work of translating experience into method. The result is BoardMaster – a practical and flexible model that can be adapted to both owner-led companies and professional corporations.
BoardMaster consists of:
- A compliance profile that creates security and responsibility
- An annual wheel that ensures direction and rhythm
- Agenda and minute templates that increase quality and save time
- A board portal with secure document management and decision tracking
- Facilitated processes and tools for strategy, owner meetings, and board evaluation
BoardMaster in practice
We don't believe in more meetings or thicker folders. We believe that good leadership starts with people – and that good structure releases both energy and courage
BoardMaster is not an alternative to a board – it's a tool to make the board better.
Less complexity. Greater value.

Morten Boysen - founder
Our approach
It should seem simple for everyone, in an understandable structure that provides insight, improves collaboration, and the value in board work:
Compliance profile
There should be a good sense of security in board work. Compliance is the common stepping stones you need as your foundation for complying with legislation and rules. It can be crucial to put it on the agenda to avoid personal liability.
Annual wheel
A fixed rhythm in the board's agenda and follow-up takes everyone on an important journey through the company's main areas in a year. This provides a basis for better understanding and participation in discussions.
Agenda and minute templates
Save time internally with standardized division and document management, focusing on content in a recognizable format.
Board portal
The board's archive for secure storage and distribution of information, documents, decisions, and follow-up in one place.
Additionally, we offer facilitation of strategic processes with:
- Owner meetings and strategy seminar models
- Prioritization tools (including "The Three Weights")
- Action plans that make the strategy operational and communicable
- Ongoing board evaluation
We emphasize that BoardMaster is not all or nothing, but is applied according to the company's size, ownership structure, and maturity level.
Who we work with
Our collaborations span widely: from owner-led companies and foundations seeking more structure and professional execution of board meetings, to larger organizations focused on strategic development. What they have in common is the desire to strengthen the board's contribution to the company's long-term direction.
We participate as your facilitator of processes across the Nordics, as a sparring partner for the ownership group, or as an active participant in board work – depending on what adds the most value to the task and your resource capacity.
BoardMaster in practice
We don't believe in quick, smart solutions – but board work shouldn't slow down the organization's development either. On the contrary. With regular evaluations and adjustments, you create a workspace where both strategy and operations get the necessary focus. This provides room for depth, strengthens collaboration, and ensures your ongoing progress – without unnecessarily burdening either the board or management.
BoardMaster is not an alternative to a board – it's a tool to make the board better.
